CILRA 2020 Conference Transportation
**All information is tentative and subject to change. Please check the official websites of the airlines and bus companies for updated winter schedules prior to booking your trip.**
1. You can fly in and out of the University of Illinois Willard Airport, Champaign-Urbana, IL.
Willard has direct connections to Chicago, Dallas, and Charlotte, NC. The I-Hotel is located less than 10 minutes away from the Willard airport and provides a complimentary shuttle service. The Union hotel does not provide a complimentary shuttle service so you will need to call a taxi/Uber to commute between the University of Illinois campus and the airport.
2. You can fly in and out of the Chicago O'Hare International Airport, Chicago, IL.

You can arrive to Chicago on Sunday 02/09/2020 on the China Eastern Airlines Flight MU717 from Shanghai. This is a direct flight that departs Shanghai at 11:40AM and lands at Chicago O’Hare International Airport at 11:40AM (same day).
You can depart Chicago on Friday 02/14/2020 on the China Eastern Airlines Flight MU718 at 1:50PM. This is a direct flight that arrives in Shanghai at 6:50PM (+1 day). As of May, 2019, there are no scheduled direct return flights from Chicago to Shanghai that would depart on Tuesday 02/11/2020. If you choose to depart on Tuesday 02/11/2020, you may need to take non-direct flights with layovers at other airports.
How to get from Chicago to Champaign-Urbana?
Chicago O'Hare International Airport is located 140 miles (about 220 km) from Champaign-Urbana. You can either take the mini-bus provided by CILRA, the Peoria Charter bus, or rent a car.

The mini-bus provided by CILRA costs $54 one-way. It seats 21 people. Those who arrive on the China Eastern Airlines flight MU717 at 11:40AM will be greeted by the representative of CILRA and helped to board the mini-bus outside of the O’Hare International Terminal 5. The mini-bus will wait for all the conference attendees arriving on the Flight MU717 to clear customs, will take them directly to Champaign-Urbana (about 2 hours and 36 minutes’ drive), and will drop them off at the two conference hotels (the I-Hotel and the Union).
If you would like to reserve a seat on the mini-bus, please contact Monika Stodolska at stodolsk@illinois.edu or Erwei Dong at dongerwei@hotmail.com before September 16, 2019. Once 21 people express interest in booking the mini-bus, you will be sent a link to the mini-bus reservation page.

You can take a Peoria Charter bus which costs $61 both ways or $32 one way. The bus takes approximately 4 hours to get to Champaign-Urbana. It will pick you up from outside of the O’Hare International Terminal 5 and will drop you off in a central location at the University of Illinois campus. From there, you will need to call a taxi/Uber to take you to the hotel.

Please note:
If you are delayed going through the border control and customs at the O’Hare International Airport and you miss this regularly scheduled bus, you will need to reschedule your ticket on the next available bus and pay additional $10 fee with cash. The seat availability is not guaranteed if not booked in advance. CILRA will not be able to assist you with purchasing or rescheduling tickets for the regularly scheduled Peoria Charter buses.

How to return from Champaign-Urbana to Chicago?

You can purchase a one-way ticket on the Peoria Charter bus. The one-way ticket costs $32. You will be taken by the CILRA mini-van from the conference hotel (the I-Hotel and the Union) to the Peoria Charter bus stop in Champaign. The bus takes approximately 4 hours to arrive at Chicago O’Hare International Terminal 5.

CILRA mini-bus. If enough people express interest in returning on the CILRA mini-bus, we will arrange for a direct transportation to the airport on either Tuesday 02/11/2020 or Friday 02/14/2020. The mini-bus will cost $54 one-way and will take you directly from the conference hotel to the O’Hare International Airport (about 2 hours and 34 minutes’ drive). If you are interested in returning on the CILRA mini-bus, please contact Monika Stodolska at stodolsk@illinois.edu or Erwei Dong at dongerwei@hotmail.com before September 16, 2019.
3. You can fly in and out of the Central Illinois Regional Airport, Bloomington, IL.
The Central Illinois Regional Airport has direct connections to Chicago, Orlando, St. Petersburg, Dallas, and Atlanta. The airport is located in Bloomington, IL and is a one-hour drive from the I-Hotel. You will need to rent a car as the bus service is not available.
4. You can fly in and out of the Indianapolis International Airport, Indianapolis, IN.

Indianapolis International Airport is located 2 hours and 11 minutes’ drive from the I-Hotel. You will need to rent a car as the bus service is not very convenient.
5. You can fly in and out of the St. Louis Lambert International Airport, St. Louis, MO.
St. Louis Lambert International Airport is located 2 hours and 50 minutes’ drive from the I-Hotel. You will need to rent a car if you choose this option.
